East Indy Dentist Utilizes Dental Bonding for Small Aesthetic Improvements
Dental bonding is a restorative procedure in which tooth-colored resin is adhered to a tooth and then cured with an ultraviolet light. Bonding is less expensive and quicker to perform than veneers, crowns, and many other cosmetic options. It is great for making small aesthetic improvements to your smile. Since nothing has to be made in a dental lab, bonding can typically be performed within the same visit to our office. However, since bonding doesn't last as long as other treatments and is less stain resistant, it is not recommended for major restorations.
How it's done:
Bonding typically takes between 30 and 60 minutes per tooth to perform. First, Dr. Le or Dr. Coffman will determine what is the exact shade of your teeth, and then select a resin that will blend with it naturally. The tooth will then be roughened a bit on the surface and coated with a liquid conditioner so that the bonding material adheres easier. The resin will then be applied to the tooth and hardened using an ultraviolet light. Once cured, a polishing and shaping will take place to ensure comfort and stability in your bite.
